Tool Installation Troubleshooting for Hidden Power Elements 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7
These are pages I never want you to have to read. Probably 99.9% of people trying to install Hidden Power tools have no trouble at all: they just click on the installer and the tools end up in Elements...no problem. Some people, on the other hand, can go through trouble for several frustrating hours hoping only to install the tools.
That is who these pages are for.
There are a bunch of little things that can be going wrong during any installation of any software. Some problems cannot be forseen by those creating the installers. I have had experience with everything from people trying to install the tools without having Photoshop Elements installed, people installing to a second installation of Elements and opening the wrong program, people having trouble because of various system-unique problems (one person had a CD-ROM player that did not function, another no CD-ROM player), to more standard problems, like virus protection getting in the way, or the tools getting installed to the wrong place (they won't work if they do). In short, there are a plethora of simple problems you can have during installation of even simple software. This doesn't mean finding the problem is always easy.
One thing to be sure of: the tools that are provided should install to any system and will work. A developer would have no reason to provide things that are skiddish. The problem is likely an unusual circumstance or odd conflict. That's what makes the problems unique and often a little difficult to find.

These troubleshooting pages have been collected in an attempt to solve your installation problems with various Hidden Power products. The pages collect all the experiences I have had in troubleshooting the tool installation. While following the instructions will slve most problems, you may still have a unique issue. In finding the cure, it is less likely that you will discover a problem with the tools, and more likely that you will find a fundamental problem with your system. Locating and fixing the problem will be well worth your troubleshooting time.
