RICHARD'S HIDDEN POWER NOTE
-----------------------------

The Hidden Power website has just been updated with exciting changes, with more to come shortly. I've released new tools for Elements 4 and Elements 5 users and started a blog in hopes to Hidden Power enthusiast experiences. In relation to the blog, the newsletter will be changing format to make it easier to maintain and more consistent. Hopefully these changes will better suit everyone's needs.

If you visit the website, you can see that there have been several changes to update the site for Elements 5, and there have been new tool releases for Elements 4 and 5 over the past few days. The original goal was to have the whole Elements 5 tool set ready this month, and hopefully there will be more to come in January. For now, suffice to say I have become very busy with the success of online courses, and I have a new book project in the works for 2007 for a new publisher (a Photoshop book this time). It is a new-year's resolution to keep up better with the Hidden Power newsletter...and changes in the past several days are meant to facilitate that. I look forward to a very Elements new year!

Dynamic Images for Elements 4 and 5
------------------------------------------

In the past few months I have be surprised by the number of requests for updating Dynamic Images for Elements 4. I gave in and finally did the work, and updated for Elements 5 at the same time. The result is that Dynamic Images and Color Correct Hidden Power tools are now available for Elements 4 and 5. These tools are not included in the tool sets that come with the books, and have to be purchased separately. The Dynamic Duo walks you through color correction for your image, and then adds an enhancement to help you make your images more dynamic. Check out the tool results and make more dynamic images every time:

Infrared and Custom B&W Conversions!
-------------------------------------

Along with many requests for a dynamic image tool for Elements 4 and 5 were numerous requests for the Infrared tool! I put this one up as an experiment for Elements 3, and while there was decent response, I wanted something more from the tool. I have added my Custom B&W tool, which uses a carefully derived black-and-white conversion that works well with virtually any image, and went further to revamp the Infrared tool to make it even more flexible, powerful, and more like infrared. No other Infrared conversion tool that you can find on the internet will do more than the Hidden Power Infrared tool, and with opportunity to adjust every facet of the effect, you can tailor the result to meet your needs. The Hidden Power BLOG
------------------------

Because of the huge volume of information that needed to be pulled together from many sources to get the Hidden Power newsletter published, it was often put aside because other projects paid more ;-) After some research into blogging and RSS feeds, I have come across a solution that will suffice for making Hidden Power information more readily available, easier to disseminate, and keep me from feeling a huge obligation every time I think I need to put out a newsletter--but able at the same time to link together all the posts I would normally put in the newsletter with far less work! The new-ish Hidden Power blog is available on the website, and will carry Question & Answers, Announcements, Troubleshooting and more. I can use the format to link to and from the Newsletter, so it offers the better of both worlds. You can visit the blog, or even set up an RSS feed.

Hidden Power Classes on betterphoto.com
-------------------------------------------

I've been teaching courses online at betterphoto.com for several semesters now and the experience has been fabulous! Not only has the turnout been good and the students eager and wonderful, but the management of the site has been tremendous in keeping things up to date, handling the chores of advertising, and making the experience worth the effort of the instructors.

I currently have three courses on betterphoto.com at several levels of expertise, and welcome new students for January courses starting in just a few days.
