About the Author

Richard Lynch is the author of The Hidden Power of Photoshop Elements 2 and The Hidden Power of Photoshop Elements 3. He has also written several books on Photoshop, including: The Hidden Power of Photoshop CS, Special Edition Using Photoshop 6 and Adobe Photoshop 5 How-To. Richard was involved with photography and the darkroom from a young age, and was introduced to image scanning, digital art and pixel manipulation in the mid 1980s, using a broad range of the available software. After years of dabbling with digital animation and rudimentary imaage editing programs on Mac and PC to create black-and-white art and logos, Richard started working with digital images full-time in 1992 as an editor and image technician at a small how-to photography book publisher, using Photoshop 2.5. Working closely with printers and imaging services for the next 5 years, he developed an intimate knowledge of the application of digital images, and a streamlined workflow for image adjustment and correction for black-and-white and color images going into print. These years in the trenches making critical adjustments to images for print serve as the basis for the no-nonsense techniques he uses in his books.

Richard continues to use Photoshop and Photoshop Elements daily. He has taught Digital Rendering at Daemen College in New York, and continues to do freelance work as a consultant in imaging and image editing. He develops new tools and techniques for users to simplify image processing and clarify the use of difficult procedures and concepts. His work with Photoshop Elements makes the program more robust by adding many features thought only to be in Photoshop via tools he has customized for Elements.
